Five aside football league match for under 12 side

The children under age 12 are currently playing a five aside football tournament at jamestown accra .The project is to identify and develope more talents .

In another developement, some drop out  children in the formal school who are graduates of the street academy would be enrolled to learn some skill .The skill traning options  include  dress making , hair dressing  and others. Madam Gunilla Green  is our contact in denmark. She is helping to make this project possible.Any other person or group who is willling to patner this project is welcome and can contact Madam Gunilla through the administration of the school.

Vacation class was organized for the children during the second term break  .The children had reading lessons . lessons in mathematics and  fine ART .

The youth side of street academy won by a lone goal against the old black stars team . The event came on last saturday at 9am at the hearts park Accra. Among some of the guests present at the occasion is a delegate from the ministry of youth and sports . who addressed our youth after the match. The next match will come off in 2014 .The venue will be Ndafa park near Korlebu teaching hospital Accra.

second term of the 2012/2013 Academic year begins

Our children areback for the second term of the academic year2013.The first two days of reopening were used for cleaning up the school. teaching and learning have been scheduled to begin this monday  january 13 ,2013.  As part of extra  activities for this term , the children will play a football match with one of the private schools in Accra.Also the children will  visit one of the manufacturing industries in accra durring the time alloted for excursion . we wish our children ,friends of street academy and alll donors a happy new year

2012 Dinner for Donors

ON THE 16TH December 2012  ,the school had dinner for all local donors and friends of the street Academy. The event took place at the national theater Accra.The national theater has been hosting such events for the part 5 years. Donors came togther to sociallize and share ideas about new suggested policies  , other areas of suppport and also the way forward for the 2013 academic year.

The street Academy under 12 football team won a tournament during the weekend hosted by The Ghana international Private school situated at cantoment Accra. The teams involved include Ghana international JHS,  GHANA international and British international primary sides.  The Children of street academy were over all winners when they drew  1;1 with Ghana international JHS and won against Ghana international Primary and  also British international primary sides ,one goal each. The children of the street academy under age 12 will engage children of the Ghana International private school in a football match on the 17th of November 2012.   This football match comes off just  5 weeks before the children write their end of term examination. 

The invitation by the Ghana international private school came at the eleventh hour however, the children will  still make time to engage their friends in the football match on the 17th of november 2012

ComputeReach international reps organized a workshop for teachers in the Street Academy

Representatives from ComputeReach International organized a two day workshop for teachers of street academy .The core issue of the programme was learning how to use Edubuntu software to enhance teaching and learning in the school. Various educative games lessons  went on during the period.

The partnership betwwen Street academy and ComputeReach of Pittsburgh started about 8 months ago,

PA, USA.  ComputeReach sends refurbished Apple and Linux computers loaded with educational software to nonprofits around the world.  At the end of March, ComputeReach sent us 5 Ubuntu linux laptops loaded with Edubuntu!  Already, our students are taking advantage of computer lessons, including a challenge to beat their computer teacher at typing speed by the end of the month.

our chidren played a football match with Alsyd academy

our under twelve football team engaged Alsyd Academy primary side in a friendly football match last friday 12th of september 2012.  Even though our children lost 3 goals to 1 in the friendly encounter, the match served a great purpose which was to  encourage the children to socialize and make friends with other group of children in our society.

The kits our children wore for the match were sponsored by Handspiel Genehmigt project .

The streetacademy held a fund raising cocktail party at the labadi pleasure beach hotel on the 28th of september 2012. the event created the upportunity for the children to show their talent to the guests present.

The children also socialized with their mentor  and some of the members of the board of trustees .The special guest of the occasion was the first son of the first president of Ghana ,Nathaniel Nkrumah.

The main objective of the fund raising event was to raise money for a new school bus for educational trips and other important programmes to enhance activities in the school.
